East Nashville Magnet Middle, an IB World School
East Nashville Magnet Middle School is a magnet/option school located in the heart of diverse, historic East Nashville.
Our mission is to ensure that all
students and staff embrace active lifelong learning and become
productive, compassionate citizens of the world through rigorous
intercultural instruction.
Beginning in the 2021-2022 school year, East Middle will offer the acclaimed International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) to all students grades 6-8. As an IB World School, we use the challenging framework of IB that emphasizes academic rigor and personal development through cultivation
of students' critical thinking and problem-solving skills while focusing
on connections between classroom studies and real-world applications.
East Magnet School students will experience a predictable learning environment where they feel safe, known as people who are validated for how they feel and what they know to be true while also being engaged intellectually in a learning experience that presents them with a productive and appropriately rigorous, yet joyful, struggle.
Beyond core academic classes, East Middle School offers students a diverse related arts program, courses that earn high school credits, the district's Encore program for gifted learners, and a high-ranking athletic program. We follow a holistic approach to educating students to the fullest of their abilities, equipping all students with the knowledge to become productive members of a global society.
We are excited to share a campus with East Nashville Magnet High School. Students who complete the MYP are well-prepared to undertake the IB Diploma Programme. Students enrolled at East Nashville Magnet Middle have the direct pathway to East Nashville Magnet High School which offers the IB Diploma Programme beginning in the 2021-2022 school year.
We are proud to carry the name of one Nashville's most community-minded neighborhoods. Our diverse student body reflects the neighborhood we call home. Additionally, many of our parents went to East, and we have many families of siblings who attend East from 5th grade all the way through 12th. In the East Nashville Magnet community, you are part of the family.
