8th Grade Language and Literature Overview
This year, students will be exposed to various cultural voices and perspectives through the study of both fictional and non-fictional narratives. Through engagement with these texts, students will widen their worldview and learn to critically examine the world around them from both their perspective and others’.
Also, through this study, students will acquire the skills necessary to become readers and writers capable of the understanding and self-expression that will guide them through high school.

Students will be expected to complete some form of work nightly. For this course, they will have:

Grammar: Completed Monday – Thursday (Due and Graded Daily) (Instructional Videos in Schoology)
- Independent Supplemental Reading - Nightly around 20 – 30 Minutes in Length. (Quiz on this Material
Weekly)
- Vocabulary: Completed nightly. Turned in as a packet on Fridays.
